According to a new announcement from Sony, pre-orders for the PS5 Pro, starting on September 26, will only be available through Sony’s own sales platform, PS Direct, for a limited time. This will apply to countries where PS Direct operates, and other retailers will be excluded until October 10.
Starting on October 10, retailers like Amazon will be able to offer their own pre-order stock for sale.
This exclusive pre-order opportunity will be available in countries such as the US, UK, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. In countries where PS Direct is not available, consumers will be able to pre-order directly from local retailers starting on September 26, without any waiting period.
Sony’s move seems to be part of a strategy to direct customers to its own sales platform. However, concerns about potential stock shortages during the pre-order period have left users worried. Another possibility is that Sony wants to gauge interest in the console firsthand.
